June 22 - The Day of national remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people
Patriotism cannot only be called upon; it must be carefully brought up
D. S. Likhachev
The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 became a heroic and at the same time the most difficult period in the history of the Soviet state. Of all the Union republics, Belarus suffered the worst losses, and every third of its residents gave his life, bringing the Great Victory Day closer. The contribution of the heroic Belarusian people to the Great Victory is invaluable. Over 1.3 million natives of Belarus fought in the ranks of the Red Army, 374 thousand people participated in the partisan movement, 70 thousand people fought underground, almost 400 thousand made up partisan reserves, several thousand Belarusians fought as part of the European Resistance. In the front ranks of courageous patriots were the youths. About 60% of Belarusian partisans were under the age of 30, more than 20 thousand boys and girls fought underground. Belarusians showed boundless courage, dedication, loyalty to duty and even self-sacrifice in the worst, most ruthless, most woeful war in our history. Great. Patriotic.

78 years have passed since the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The land healed its wounds, but people remember the war, it still lives in their hearts today. We will never forget those who liberated long-suffering cities and villages, burned in tanks and covered enemy embrasures with their bodies, those who overcame everything not for the sake of rewards, but for the bright future of our country. We must all cherish the memory of this to avoid a repeat of bloody events. Books that tell us about the war can help us with this. Reading books will help to comprehend the events of the Great Patriotic War and find out the price of Victory over fascism.
The virtual exhibition "The book will revive our memory of the war..." allows us to draw historical parallels, get a clear idea of the past, connect it with the present, analyze and try to give our own assessment of historical events. The exhibition presents works about the war, about the Great Victory, written by authors from Gorki.
