The Republican Meeting of the Scientific Community, dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science

On January 27, the republican meeting of the scientific community dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science was held at the Belarusian State Pedagogical Maksim Tank University.

The solemn event was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus, the Government, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, heads of ministries, concerns, university rectors, representatives of international organizations, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, youth public associations, and scientific community of Belarus.

The Belarusian State Agricultural Academy was represented by Rector Vitaly Velikanov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work Yuri Tibets, and Dean of the Faculty of Economics Irina Shafranskaya.

The meeting was attended by a delegation of the CIS Executive Committee headed by First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth Leonid Anfimov. Speaking at the event, L.Anfimov emphasized the role of Belarusian science in integration processes in the post-Soviet space. "Scientists, specialists and employees of the university and academic science of Belarus make a worthy contribution to the formation of scientific and innovative space in the Commonwealth of Independent States, thus strengthening international cooperation in the scientific sphere, including through active participation in the work of the relevant sectoral councils", he said.

Leonid Anfimov announced the greeting of the CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev to the participants of the republican meeting of the scientific community dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science.

Speakers at the Republican meeting of the scientific community noted that science is a powerful resource of modernization, the driving force of technological progress, and the most important component of national wealth. Science is an important factor in ensuring the national security of the country.

Science offers ways, mechanisms and scenarios for the country's transition to a higher technological level. The state policy in the field of scientific, technical and innovative activities is aimed at intensifying the development of the scientific industry, ensuring close interaction of science with organizations of the real sector of the economy.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets noted that higher education institutions have organized work to involve students in the research sphere. He stated: "We can be proud of the results of the work of university scientists, who, in addition to training, make a significant contribution to the scientific achievements of the country".

Andrei Ivanets expressed his opinion: "The path to science is always a long distance, mastering a person entirely, changing his life, way of thinking, character, habits, as well as favorite activities. It is these people give movement forward, shape our future, and serve people and progress. I am convinced that our joint efforts will allow us to attract talented and highly motivated young people to research work, and they will continue the glorious traditions of Belarusian scientific schools, and ensure their dynamic development".

At the event, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economics, Professor, graduate of the Faculty of Economics of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy Vladimir Gusakov congratulating the scientific community, stressed:

- It is very important that the Head of State keeps the entire scientific sphere under his control and provides the broadest support. It is thanks to this that Belarusian science in recent years has made such breakthrough results, developments in many areas of scientific activity and economics. This has never happened before. Previously, there were separate developments in certain areas and industries, now it's a wide range of developments. Moreover, these are relevant, demanded developments, and many of which have already been put into production.

Young scientists, talented youth, the best representatives of the scientific community, including a BSAA graduate, Director of the Institute for System Research in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the National Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economics, Professor Andrei Pilipuk, were given high awards.

In order to demonstrate the results of scientific research and development of Belarusian science, the effectiveness of the implementation of state programmes in the field of scientific, technical and innovative activities, and the work of strengthening the connection of science with production, the exhibition "Youth. Education. Science" was organized in the lobby of the BSPU named after M.Tank.
