The competition “Partnership for Sustainable Development 2020”

The Global Compact Network in the Ukraine launched the competition "Partnership for Sustainable Development 2020", which aims to promote Sustainable Development Goals and partnership between business, business associations, authorities, civil society and academic institutions. Business companies, non-profit organizations or local governments that implemented social or environmental projects in partnership with representatives of other stakeholder groups, such as business with the community, business with NGOs, or business with governmental bodies, can submit their project to the competition. Completed applications are accepted until September 15, 2020.

In 2018, the UN Global Compact named Goal 17 "Partnership" as one of the most important. The projects that are implemented in partnership have a much greater impact, are more sustainable and cover a larger number of recipients. Thus, since 2018, the Ukrainian Global Compact Network in cooperation with the Global Compact Network in Belarus has been holding a competition "Partnership for Sustainable Development." In addition to the Ukraine and Belarus, companies from Georgia, Macedonia, Poland and Turkey can take part in the competition in 2020.

"The Partnership for Sustainable Development" competition demonstrates notable achievements made possible by the fact that enterprises, local communities and government work together to achieve a sustainable environment, peace, social and economic results. Thus, the competition provides an opportunity for responsible business to gain recognition both nationally and internationally.

The submitted project should fall under one of the following categories:

  • Society (inclusiveness, education, youth empowerment, cultural diversity, gender equality, health care);
  • Planet (environment, waste management, green energy, climate change, biodiversity protection, sustainable consumption, water management, sustainable supply chains);
  • Peace (human rights, social security, promotion of peaceful dialogue, combating corruption);
  • Economic development (economic growth, closed-loop economy, sustainable cities, infrastructure, green innovations, community development);
  • Additionally, in each category, a nominee will be selected who will submit a project aimed at overcoming the consequences of COVID-19.

The winning in the competition "Partnership for Sustainable Development 2020" does not provide for monetary remuneration. Winners must meet the following criteria:

  • Adhere to 10 principles of the UN Global Compact in their activities;
  • Adhere to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1-17);
  • Take into account non-financial indicators of environmental, social and management information (ESG - Environment, Social, Governance) in their work.

Applications can be submitted in English or Ukrainian in WORD format. Applications are accepted at the e-mail address: partnership@globalcompact.org.ua and are evaluated by an international expert jury. The subject of the letter should include "PSA-2020" and the name of the applicant. The subject of the application email should be "PSA-2020: ____ your company name." Applications sent with a different subject of the letter will not be considered. Only one application can be accepted from each applicant.

Project assessment criteria:

Partnership (25%) Project Sustainability (25%)
