Belarus - Turkmenistan: the dialogue in the language of friendship

On May 28, a meeting was held in the video-conference format with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus Nazarkuly Shakulyyev. Management of the Academy chaired by Rector Vitaliy Velikanov, as well as the students from Turkmenistan and other countries who study at the leading agrarian university of Belarus attended the conference. The event was devoted to the theme "The policy of neutrality and its importance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development" and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan.

2020 is a milestone year for the people of Turkmenistan. On the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the conference took place under the slogan "Turkmenistan - the homeland of Neutrality" and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Resolution "On permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan." On the occasion of the anniversary of the country’s foreign policy status, a great number of events have been planned by the Turkmenistan government, including international meetings and conferences.

The video conference was opened by BSAA Rector Vitaliy Velikanov, who thanked our Turkmen partners for their initiative and noted that whatever obstacles we’d face, if there’d be a desire to communicate, we could do everything. Our Rector assured the Turkmen party that we would continue to increase the number of Turkmen students at the Academy, doing our best to educate highly qualified specialists who would make a worthy contribution to the development of Turkmenistan.

In his speech at the videoconference, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Nazarkuly Shakulyyev warmly welcomed Rector and all the participants. He outlined the main achievements of Turkmenistan during its 25 years of permanent neutrality status. Turkmenistan has clearly demonstrated to the world the initiatives of neutrality aimed at further economic strengthening, social, cultural and environmental cooperation not only in Central Asia, but also throughout the world. The Ambassador pointed out that Turkmenistan meets the anniversary of Neutrality in an atmosphere of peace and creation, good-neighbourliness and mutual understanding with its friends and partners. It will continue to do everything necessary to strengthen peace and security in our planet, to contribute to the development and progress of human civilization.

Vice-Rector for Educational Work Maxim Potapenko told about the work of the recently opened Academy’s Club of International Friendship, about the activities of Turkmen students, their participation in various sports, cultural and other events. Mahym Gulemirova, a 4-year student at the Faculty of Economics, shared her impressions of her years of studies at the oldest Belarusian agrarian university. "We, the students of BSAA, are very proud and happy that we study here," she said. "Belarus is a very welcoming country. And we feel at home here. We are very grateful to the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Belarus for the fact that our countries strive for peace".

The participants of the conference were shown a documentary about the success and achievements of Turkmenistan during its 25 years of Neutrality.
