Prospects for international cooperation

From July 26 to August 2, the Mogilev region hosts a delegation from Shaanxi province of the People's Republic of China. The delegation consisting of Executive Vice President of Shaanxi Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce Zheng Zhiwei, legal adviser to the Shaanxi Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce Qu Baolin, technical consultant to Shaanxi Agricultural Reclamation Group Shayuan Farm Co., Ltd Chen Xinsheng and Director of Industrial Development and Production Technology Department Shaanxi Agricultural Reclamation Group Shayuan Farm Co., Ltd Han Xinchuan visited the Gorki district and was warmly received by the Belarusian party.

The guests from China came for the purpose of long-term cooperation in the cultivation of corn, wheat and rapeseed and first of all they visited the experimental fields of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, got acquainted with new technologies of agriculture and tillage. After the excursion, a group of delegates, accompanied by representatives of the administration of Gorki district and the academy, went to the conference hall of the university. On the way, the rector of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy Vitaly Velikanov spoke about the main milestones in the development of the academy, presented the achievements of the university at the state level, shared the information about the academy’s international cooperation, including with Chinese educational institutions.

The members of the delegation thanked the academy management for the warm welcome and, after watching a video about the activities of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, noted that they became more aware of the specifics of the university's work and its importance for the development of society. The head of the district executive committee Nikolai Orlenok expressed hope for future fruitful cooperation.

Vitaly Velikanov spoke in more details about the already created Belarusian-Chinese educational network on the basis of the academy, in particular, about the Confucius Center, the center for supporting Chinese students, the center for agricultural biotechnology and artificial intelligence and highlighted possible ways of further cooperation in the following areas: agrotechnological, engineering, economic profiles. The rector also noted that at the moment the Academy has concluded more than 160 agreements with educational institutions and scientific organizations abroad, and the university is strongly interested in joint educational programmes with the universities of the People's Republic of China.

Representatives of the Belarusian side drew attention to the possibility of work of Chinese companies in the Gorki district, the creation of industries in the agro-industrial sector and the service sector, in particular, livestock farms and complexes and hotel and restaurant enterprises.

The guests from China were interested in the peculiarities of the lands of the Gorki district, the availability of the necessary equipment for cultivating crops, the population of the city and the region.

Representatives of the district and the academy management agreed to study the business plan of the Chinese side, and if it is practically applicable and brings real income for the district, region and republic, the district is ready to accept it.

The Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, for its part, is ready to provide training in working on Belarusian equipment, as well as precision farming technology, which has shown excellent results.

Vice-rector for scientific work Yuri Tibets gave guests a tour of the permanent exhibition of the Academy's achievements. The Chinese delegates were very interested in certain scientific areas, crops, and cultivation technologies.
