The academy develops cooperation with higher education establishments in China

The cooperation of the educational establishment "Belarusian State the Orders of the October Revolution and the Labour Red Banner Agricultural Academy" with the Kunming Metallurgical College in the People's Republic of China began in 2019 with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation. Its implementation gave impetus to the emergence of a joint educational programme, within the framework of which 9 students from the PRC have already come to study at the academy. A group of eight students of the Kunming Metallurgical College is about to begin an online course of the Russian language as foreign this academic year.

The epidemic of coronavirus interfered with dynamic development of cooperation, however now, after cancellation of the epidemic restrictions, partners actively make up for lost time.

On November 1, 2023 in our academy the online meeting with administration and first-year students of the Kunming metallurgical college took place. The academy at a meeting was represented by the rector Vitaly Velikanov, the dean of faculty of international relations and pre-university education Alexander Pashkevich, the dean of land management faculty Olga Pisetskaya, the dean of amelioration and construction faculty Yury Dubrova. The representatives of the Chinese partner who were in the academy on a business visit also joined the event.     Ms. Gao Qionghua, Vice-Rector of the Kunming Metallurgical College, addressed the meeting participants with a welcoming speech. In total, 360 college students who study Russian attended the online meeting.

The interest in the joint programme of two partner universities is growing. In 2023, 87 students who intend to continue their studies at BSAA have been enrolled in Kunming College. 37 boys and 7 girls are planning to come to Gorki in three years’ time to continue their studies at the land management faculty, and 32 boys and 11 girls have chosen the amelioration and construction faculty of the academy for education. The following year, an application was submitted to the Ministry of Education of the PRC for the participation of 110 people in the joint programme.

Both parties expressed strong confidence that the cooperation, which had begun four years ago, would become long-term and would contribute to the development of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the educational sphere.
