HAPPY BELARUSIAN SCIENCE DAY!

DEAR COLLEAGUES!

Every year on the last Sunday of January our country celebrates the Belarusian Science Day. It was officially established in 1993, but over the past quarter century, in connection with the independence of our republic, this holiday occupies a special place in the calendar of the state dates.

And it is no coincidence. Currently, more than 25 thousand specialists are engaged in research activities in our country. The achievements of Belarusian scientists meet high world requirements. They make a significant contribution to the innovative development of all sectors of the national economy.

The National Academy of Sciences is the leading research and scientific center in the republic. 47 graduates of the BSAA were elected academicians and corresponding members. Academician Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, is also a graduate of our Academy.

Scientists of our Academy make a worthy contribution to the innovative development of the export-oriented agricultural industry. This confirms the status of BSAA as a scientific organization. We are rightfully proud of the demand for scientific developments, the formation of the international scientific image of our Academy. We have scientific schools and experienced scientific personnel. University science has a great future. Our students also have rich potential of researchers, and all conditions are created for their development.

The word "scientist" is pronounced with special respect in our republic. "Belarus has always been famous for its scientific organizations and personnel with powerful intellectual potential. Every success in science is our national wealth, the triumph of the entire Belarusian people", President Alexander Lukashenko praised the scientists.

On the eve of the holiday - the Day of Belarusian Science - let me congratulate everyone who works in this field, who wins grants, participates in competitions, leads the training of highly qualified personnel, prepares for the defense of theses, introduces knowledge and scientific achievements into the practical-oriented training of agricultural specialists, and who takes the first steps into science as well.

I wish everyone to maintain interest in scientific research, and believe in your own strength. Use the experience of your predecessors and do everything so that Belarusian science always remains in demand, and serves the interests of our people, our country.
