WHY DO THEY GO TO THE GORKI ACADEMY

FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD ?

Numerous preferences when entering a higher educational establishment and 100% distribution to the first workplace. Such a direction for training young owners of the land was chosen at one of the oldest agrarian universities in the country - the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Gorki. About 1000 students are recruited here every year. And not only from Belarus, but from the most remote parts of the world as well.

Today, it is not a secret that the next decade in the agricultural sector can be called the "era of digitalization" of all production processes, which will significantly increase agricultural efficiency. At the end of last year, a republic seminar was held at the country's leading agrarian university on the topic "Precise technologies in agriculture. The formation of a comprehensive "project of the future " - "Precision farming." The venue was not chosen by chance. It is BSAA, according to the expert opinion of specialists, that should become an experimental site for the implementation of the precision agriculture concept.

In this regard, it has no worthy competitors. At the republican seminar, the educational and exhibition center of agricultural equipment, machines and units was opened for the practical training of specialist in the field of precision agriculture. Today, students are taught to control a tractor or combine with navigation and other characteristics. These are experimental samples that will soon appear on the fields of our agricultural enterprises.

"We are future engineers," says Yuri Domchev, a 3rd year student, "after graduating from the academy we will work on these machines, make accurate calculations for fertilizer application, draw up soil fertility maps, and monitor the work of machine operators via satellite systems.

"Presice agriculture," adds a 3rd year student Vladimir Zatsepin, "opens up huge prospects for farmers. It is good that, in addition to knowledge on introducing new technologies, in our third year we get the licenses of a tractor driver and combine harvester, then we go to the farm and practice there for four months".

"During 5 years of study," says Andrei Kolmykov, vice-rector of the BSAA, "our students go through all the stages in the most modern scientific technologies in the agro-industrial complex. This is remote sensing of the earth, satellite research, the use of drones. It is important that in educational plans, practical training accounts for about 60% of the total number of academic hours”.

“All practical training, including pre-diploma”, - says Mikhail Volkov, Vice-Rector for Educational Work of the BSAA, - “are held directly on the basis of agricultural enterprises. Last year, the Academy created a practical training simulator in aquaculture for students and specialists in the field of fisheries. To put in a nutshell, we prepare highly professional personnel for the agro-industrial complex of the country and often applications for a certain student come from several different enterprises. Specialties being trained at the academy are in demand both in the village and in the city. And this means that holders of diplomas can work in different spheres of state economy”.

"We also have a higher school of agribusiness," adds Alexander Chechetkin, Head of the College of Advanced Training and Retraining Personnel. - "If a student at the academy has average grades of 7 and above points, after the third year of his study he has the opportunity to get knowledge there. Specialists who work in agricultural enterprises may also have such opportunities. At the same time, a person gets two diplomas - mechanical engineer and economist, as well as accountant and lawyer. Therefore, highly qualified specialists come out. Applicants from the farthest corners of the planet come here for education. The knowledge gained at the academy will be enough for a successful start and growth in a future career”.
