In October 2021, we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Honored Cultural Worker of the BSSR, director of the library (1920-1975), the oldest employee of the academy, and her graduate Demyan Novikov.

With the greatest devotion, for 56 years he worked for the benefit of the academy. D.Novikov was and remains an example of great diligence, determination, faithful service to the people, and devotion to his profession.

Creating a library, he sought to present on the bookshelves everything that was needed for the educational process and scientific research at the academy.

The academy staff, together with the head, did a huge job of restoring the library building destroyed by the war and the fund plundered by the Nazis.

Exclusively devoted to his favorite business, Demyan Novikov left behind a significant mark in other areas of his work as well. Since 1920, he headed the park economy of the academy, where for many years he was engaged in territorial improvement, which turned it into one of the most beautiful corners of our Belarusian nature.

Demyan Novikov was an excellent teacher and patriot of his country. Since 1930, he taught courses on "Landscaping of Populated Places," "Ornamental Gardening." He brought up a whole generation of specialists in love with their native nature.

By the 120th anniversary of the birth of Demyan Novikov, it was decided to assign his name to the academy's library.

Today, our library occupies one of the most worthy places among university libraries in Belarus. It is an information center that fully supports the educational process and research work at the academy.

The name of Demyan Novikov occupies one of the most honorable places in the history of the Academy and librarianship of all Belarus.
