THE BSAA RECTOR'S BUSINESS TRIP TO VITEBSK REGION

The rector of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy Vitaly VELIKANOV spent the end of the last working week on a business trip to Vitebsk region.

On April 22, a general meeting of the Belarusian Association of Student Sports (BASS) was held at the Polotsk State University, in which the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Igor KARPENKO took part. The reports provided an analysis of the state of student sports, achievements and prospects in this sphere. It was noted that today university sports gained not only popularity from future specialists, but also special significance for the propaganda and promotion of sports culture, the values of a healthy lifestyle among the youths. In addition, student sports have become a school for the reserve formation of higher sporting achievements.

At the meeting, the governing bodies of BASS were elected. The post of chairman of the Belarus Association of Student Sports  was again taken by the champion of the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing (2008) in canoeing, Alexander Bogdanovich. The main task of this sports organization, as it is emphasized in the adopted documents, remains to increase the effectiveness of the development of student sports in higher educational establishments, the entry of BASS into international sports structures, interaction with colleagues from national sports student unions within the framework of signed agreements, etc.

Among the elected members of the BASS Executive Committee there was vice-rector for educational work of the BSAA Maksim  Potapenko.
