Visit to the Academy

On December 10, 2020, a meeting was held within the framework of the project "School of an Active Citizen". Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, a graduate of our academy, Sergey Reentovich met representatives of the student bodies.

During the meeting Deputy Minister familiarized those present with the structure of the country's energy complex and modern directions of energy development in Belarus. The discussion touched upon the use of renewable energy sources, the share of which in total is about 7%, and by 2030 their share should be 8% in gross energy production.

A special place in the conversation was taken by information about BelNPP, the inclusion of which in the country's energy system should take place in the first half of 2021. Sergey Reentovich noted that the output of this facility to the design capacity would reduce the use of natural gas for energy needs, the consumption of which is currently amounted to about 19.5 billion m3, with a specific gravity of about 90%. The stated goal is to reduce the use of gas for energy needs to the level of 65%, which will solve more global problems to strengthen the state's energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere.

During the meeting, a lively conversation took place with those present. Sergey Reentovich answered the questions in detail. The participants were interested in the current state and prospects for the development of electric transport in the country, opportunities for expanding the green energy, prospects for the development and safety of nuclear energy, and the possibility of attracting investors to use wind energy in the Goretsky district with the aim of improving the quality of training specialists.

After the meeting, Deputy Minister visited the exhibition of advanced achievements of the Academy, research laboratories and the museum of the Academy.
