1st Belarusian-Uzbek agrarian forum
Rector of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy V.Velikanov took part in the 1st Belarusian-Uzbek agrarian forum, which took place on 25-26 Feb. 2020. Welcoming speeches were made by the Republic of Belarus Deputy Prime-Minister Vladimir Dvornik and the Republic of Uzbekistan Deputy Prime-Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov. Belarusian Embassy in Uzbekistan and “PRODUCT.BY” magazine were organizers of the Forum.
The main goal of the event was to show the potential of Belarusian companies for export diversification, and to realize the plan for cooperation development between Belarus and Uzbekistan. The total number of the participants was more than 700. The Uzbek side was represented by delegations from all regions of the country including departments and organizations of agro-industrial complex.
The exhibition was held at the same time where 60 Belarusian and Uzbek companies were represented. They showed their best researches in the fields of agricultural engineering, pedigree cattle breeding, design and construction of dairy and commodity farms, vegetable storehouses, and processing industries. Food industry enterprises showed their most perspective export products.
The forum delegates visited the Tashkent State Agrarian University. Its Rector B.Sulaimonov introduced the Belarusian delegation to the University’s facilities and directions of training specialists for agro-industrial complex of the Republic. The presentation was made by rector Velikanov V.V. to show the opportunities of studying at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy. The parties reached the agreement that Tashkent University will suggest applicants who are not accepted by the TSAU to become students of BSAA having in mind that entrance completion in Tashkent Agrarian University is very tight: up to10 applicants per seat, besides the population of the Republic is more than 32 million people. The agreement on cooperation was signed between Belarusian State Agricultural Academy and Tashkent State Agrarian University.
Sections were organized at the forum, including crop production, livestock production, agricultural products processing, and finished goods sales. Expositions of Belarusian and Uzbek companies were also represented.
More than 30 agreements and contracts with Uzbek partners were concluded during the Forum including Memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Republic of Belarus Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Uzbekistan Ministry of Agriculture.
