The visit of the Minister
On July 29 the oldest agricultural university of our country began its working day on a solemn note. The administration of BSAA, led by rector Vitaly Velikanov, welcomed the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Ivan Krupko.
The conversation with the minister started immediately and continued in the rector's office with the participation of the chairman of the Gorki district executive committee Alexander Butarev. Ivan Krupko's visit to the academy is the first in his work schedule at the ministerial post. And therefore, he tried to use the time pressed up to minutes with mutual benefit.
The minister visited the exhibition of BSAA achievements, where Vitaly Velikanov drew the minister's attention to the "Gallery of Glory," mentioning that there are 2 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 24 - Hero of Socialist Labor among the graduates of the academy. The head of the research department Alexander Ivanistov spoke about the scientific achievements of employees and the main areas of research work. In particular, he noted the creation of an innovative scientific and educational center for biotechnology in crop production. The minister was interested in the work of the training simulator on aquaculture, which acquires the status of an industrial laboratory. (Ivan Krupko saw him when visiting the fish-breeding industrial complex). One of the stands at the exhibition was devoted to the activities of the headquarters of labour affairs of BSAA. The academy successfully continues the best traditions of the student labour movement. On these hot harvesting days, 92 students of mechanization of agriculture faculty work hard on the fields of agricultural enterprises of the republic. And in the early spring, more than 100 students of the academy laid a reliable basis for this rich harvest. Letters of gratitude for conscientious work and good professional training of future specialists have come to the address of BSAA managers.
The minister's visit program also included some structural units of the university: laboratories for milk quality monitoring, and educational and scientific applied endocrinology and veterinary medicine; seed quality testing laboratory; chemical and environmental laboratory. Ivan Krupko visited the Department of Technical Service and the Car Diagnostics Station, listened to the melody of the tractor Т-40 engine restored by the hands of the students, examined a new educational classroom at the Faculty of Business and Law, "stylized" with the help of sponsors for the courtroom. Here, future legal scholars will be able to model specific judicial situations.
The Minister visited such an innovative object as a school-farm. In the training class, he was told about the cooperation of students and teachers of the academy with the workers of BSAA training farm. And the fact that the school-farm occupies a leading position in the farm speaks of the reliability and effectiveness of such cooperation. In particular, over the past year, the milk yield per cow on the farm amounted to 7473 kg of milk with an average fat content of 4.12. All milk was sent for processing as Class 1 product. For 6 months of this year, the milk yield on the farm exceeded 4000 kg.
During his acquaintance with the academy, the minister showed not only his competence, but also his sociability, personal responsibility for the state of affairs in the export-oriented industry entrusted to him. The leadership and staff of the academy also demonstrated a high level of professionalism.
