THE INDEPENDENCE DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

The Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus (The Republic Day) is the main holiday of Belarusian statehood. It is celebrated annually on July 3 in honor of the liberation of the capital of Belarus, Minsk, from Nazi invaders in 1944.

The holiday lets us remember that the Belarusian people, at the cost of unthinkable losses, won the freedom and independence for Motherland, and will not waive a single inch of their independence in the future. Festivities and celebrations are held throughout the Republic. Residents rush to squares, concert venues, and away outlets. Various competitions and advertising campaigns are organized as well.

The Belarusian State Agricultural Academy did not stand aside.

On this day, the laying of flowers at memorable places symbolizing the struggle of the Soviet people against the Nazi invaders became a good tradition.

The ceremony of laying flowers was attended by Rector of the Academy Vitaly Velikanov, First Vice-rector A. Kolmykov, Vice-rector for educational work M. Potapenko, Chairman of the trade union committee of employees and teachers A. Oreshkov, Chairman of the trade union committee of students V. Sidyuk, Secretary of the Belarusian State Youth Union M.Golod.
